New york steak

( pcs.)

New York Steak is a one-of-a-kind, truly masculine steak. The tenderness of the meat is perhaps inferior to ribeye or tenderloin steaks, but the structure of the meat that puts a pleasant resistance on the tooth is well appreciated by fans of this steak. Anyway, the tenderness is fully compensated by the unique taste and full aroma of beef meat, which is of the greatest importance to steak connoisseurs.

It does not require additional marinating before thermal processing. It feels great in the company of only salt and pepper. If we have good quality meat, such as the one offered in our store, then 95% of the culinary success is achieved, the remaining 5% is left for the left-right treatment on the grill pan and a brilliant dinner is ready. Many suggestions on how to prepare can be found in our blog.

What are the other names

New York steak is known around the world under several basic names. In steak houses we will most often meet names such as: strip steak, striploin steak or club steak. Less common names include: Kansas City strip steak, contré filet, strip loin steak, hotel steak, ambassador steak.

What part of the beef does it come from

Striploin extends from the hip bone to the shoulder blade. It is part of the longissimus dorsi and the upper part of the oblique abdominis. It is from this place that we cut new york steaks beloved by steak-eaters. Just like the ribeye, the striploin muscle does little work (a group of non-motor muscles), which is why the meat tissue is quite fragile and delicate due to its marbled, fine-fiber structure. Although it does not have such a high content of intramuscular fat as beef ribeye meat, it is still an element with high marbling.

Where did the name New York Steak come from

In 1820, in New York, the Delmonico's Restaurant opened in lower Manhattan, whose flagship dish was a steak with a characteristic stripe. Today, it is not entirely known whether it was actually a striploin steak, and to top it all off, numerous restaurants imitated the New York restaurant using other elements, sometimes ribeye, sometimes picanha or tri tip. Either way, due to the historical location where this dish was served, the striploin steaks came to be called New York Steak. Although the actual element from which the steak was cut in the cult restaurant may be debatable, it is certainly indisputable that the New York steak will be prepared extremely easily and quickly, and the taste will be overwhelming thanks to the aromatic, buttery consistency obtained during frying.

What health benefits does it have

Beef in general is very healthy and extremely important for a balanced human diet. So both strip steak and ribeye steak will be a fantastic source of vitamins and nutrients for our body. Here, however, you can be tempted to ask which piece is healthier. After analyzing these two pieces of meat of equal weight, New York Steak was found to have fewer calories and saturated fat, while providing more protein than rib eye steak.
